Breakdown

Alabama has done an incredible job positioning of itself for a favorable NCAA tournament so far this season. On Bracket matrixA place where over 50 bracketologists submit their bracket projections throughout the season, Alabama is not projected anything lower than a 1-seed at this time of season.

Crimson Tide has a Top-3 CV in College Basketball with Auburn and Duke, and is rated high as # 2 overall seed according to many bracketologists who only draw consensus # 1 in Auburn.

With a 1-seed, the ability to be placed in favorable places comes. The closest first weekend to Alabama is Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, who would be the selection if Alabama ends up with a 1-seed. Another close place would be Raleigh, North Carolina, who could be an option if two teams end up getting taller than Alabama and both want Lexington.

The second weekend sites for Sweet 16 and Elite Eight rounds have an incredibly favorable location in Atlanta, but the current projections have Auburn planned to serve the South region as the top overall seed. For Alabama to win up the South region over Auburn and get Atlanta, it would be necessary to finish higher than Tigers, which could happen as the teams still have to play twice.

If Alabama does not end with the South region, the other three other weekend sites are Indianapolis (Midwest Region), Newark (East Region) and San Francisco (West Region). Right now, most projections have Alabama in the Midwest, as it would be its choice as No. 2 -collected seed, and if Duke was No. 2 -collected seed, it would probably take east, where he left the Midwest to Alabama again.

In general, Alabama cannot ask for a much better position to enter the season’s stretching. If the tide can avoid suffering surprising losses and continuing to stack quality gains, as it has all season, it has a great chance of finding itself as 1-seed for the second time in three seasons. At best, this team could find itself as No. 1 -collected seed if it can turn off Auburn and find a way to win SEC -Regular Seasons.
