Ilhan Omar accuses Trump of driving dictatorship as he works to cut spilled expenses

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Slamed President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk on Monday for their efforts to run the US Agency for International Development (USAID) while also accused the president of starting a dictatorship.

Omar and several other Democratic lawmakers spoke outside the USAID building in Washington, DC, and connected the efforts of Trump and Musk to take control of independent agencies such as USAD and strip them down to cut spilled spending.

“It’s a really, truly sad day in America. We witness a constitutional crisis,” Omar said. “We talked about Trump would be a dictator on the first day. And here we are. This is how it seems the dictatorship looks when you turn on the constitution and you install yourself as the only power. That’s how, dictators are made.

She continued to say that Trump, Musk and their “crises” are trying to remove the constitutional power of Congress by deciding where money is allocated.
