Trey Murphy scores Career High for Pelicans in Nuggets loss | Pelicans

Denver – Not even a career-binding night from Trey Murphy was enough for New Orleans Pelicans to end their latest slide.

Murphy scored 41 points, but Pelicans’ losing line hit six with a 125-113 loss to Denver Nuggets.

Murphy knocked 8 3-Pointers in the game and scored 24 points in the third quarter. It tied up a franchise record for points in a quarter.

Michael Porter Jr. Scored a season high 36 points to lead nuggets. Nikola Jokic added 27 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists.

Jamal Murray had 20 points and eight assists, while Julian Strawther scored 15 points from the bench for Denver. In his first start of the season, Zeke Nnaji, who filled the wounded Aaron Gordon, had a season high 12 points.

Triple double was Jokics NBA-Best 23. Season and ninth in his last 11 games.

Murphy scored 39 of New Orleans’ first 85 points and helped the pelicans who pulled with as many as 20 points in the second half come within eight into the fourth quarter. Murphy made 13 of his 21 shots, including eight of his 12 3s, while the rest of his team shot only 37.3% off the field.

CJ McCollum scored 30 points and Zion Williamson added 14 to the Pelicans.

Denver won his third straight match and has won 11 of his last 15 games to stay at the fourth at the western conference.

The pelicans, meanwhile, have not won a game since their 4-game-winning series ended.

After a Murphy 3-Pointer tied the game at 21 in the first quarter, nuggets went on a 14-2 race and led the rest of the night. The Pelicans (12-38) never came closer than six.

The pelicans fell to 1-2 against the nuggets this season. The two teams play again in Denver Wednesday.
