Looking at a realistic trade package for Lamelo Ball

When a fan base on Twitter posts a scornful trade about another team’s young franchisee, you never think about taking it seriously.

Well, last night changed the way it is perceived.

At. 12:12, Sham’s Charania from ESPN fell one of, if not the biggest trade in the NBA story.

After taking about four hours letting everything treated, one thought through my head: What could a pack of Charlotte Hornets -Star Lamelo Ball look? Ball has been a part of the trade rumors for a few years, but always felt like he was untouched. Now we understand that there is no pristine in today’s NBA, so what would a realistic package for Lamelo Ball look like?

To begin with, trade should include either significant young talent, a star on or near Lamelo’s ability and more draft choices. Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs and Utah Jazz are the teams with the most offering hornets in this scenario.

Let’s suggest a trade with one team in there most associated with Ball: San Antonio Spurs.

The trade

Charlotte Hornets Business: G/F Devin Vassell, F Jeremy Sochan, 2025 Round 1 (Cha, Protected 1-14), 2025 Round 2 (Chi), 2026 Round 1 (ATL, Swap Rights), 2026 Round 2 (via NOP or POR) , 2027 Round 1 (ATL).

San Antonio Spurs Business: G Lamelo Ball

Now Hornets may never handle Lavar’s youngest. If they did, this would be a perfect package for them. The spurs have openly stated that they will not treat Rookie Stephon Castle. Therefore, tossing him into this agreement felt even more unrealistic than it already is.

The hornets incentive for this agreement would be the mix of young talent with the draft capital. The Hornets owner does not technically not have their first round this year when Spurs have it. That said, the chances of spurs acquiring this season are slim. If Spurs do not get the election this season, they would receive Hornets draft election next year without protection of it.

Getting back this choice would probably be the most important part of the deal.

Adding the Atlanta 2027 choice would also be extremely valuable. Hornets would then own four choices of the first round in 2027, Atlanta, their own, Dallas (Top 2 protected) and Miami (Lottery protected).

Although Hornets would move their franchisee, they would set their team incredibly for the future. If the team were to land the election # 1 in the upcoming draft, they could build around Cooper Flagg with five first round elections in the next two drafts.
