Broccoli, sold on Walmart in 20 states, is now the subject of a possibly deadly recall, according to the US Food and Drug Administration.

At the end of last year, Braga Fresh, which was based in Soledad, California, issued a voluntary recall and product warning for the markets broccoli florets, the US Food and Drug Administration advertised.

FDA announced the initial remind December 31, 2024 to Braga Freshs washing and ready to eat 12 ounces of market broccoli flowers due to the possibility of Listeria Monocytogenes pollution.

In one message The FDA was published on January 27, 2025 and noticed this to a class I remember – the highest recall risk level issued by the agency as it could potentially lead to death.

Which broccoli is remembered?

Braga Fresh remembers a single mass of 12-ounce bags with washed and ready to eat market side broccoli flowers:

  • The product has a best applied-to-date date on December 10, 2024.
  • UPC, listed on the back of the bag, is 6 81131 32884 5.
  • The Party code listed on the front of the bag is BFFG327A6.

Pollution discovered during random store sampling in Texas

According to the recall message, broccoli may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.

The potential for pollution was discovered during random sampling of Texas Health and Human Services from a place in Texas Store, where samples tested positively for Listeria.

No disease has been reported immediately in connection with the recall.

If you bought the item, the FDA will advise to throw it right away.

Listeria poisoning symptoms

Listeriosis, or Listeria poisoning, is a food -borne bacterial infection most often caused by the bacterium listeria monocytogenes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It is considered a serious condition and can be dangerous or life -threatening, especially for older adults, people with weak immune systems and pregnant women.

  • Stiff neck
  • Confusion
  • Loss of balance
  • Cramps
  • Diarrhea
  • Other gastrointestinal symptoms
  • Abortion, stillbirth, for early delivery and/or life -threatening infection of newborn infants

People in higher risk categories experiencing flu -like symptoms within two months of eating contaminated food should seek medical attention.
