California Lottery raises $ 2.25 billion to public schools in 2024

California -Lottery reported that it has raised over $ 2.25 billion to the state’s public schools in the 2024 financial year, which brought the total foundations generated for education since the lottery began in 1985 to $ 46 billion.

This amount marks the third year in a row where the lottery has generated over $ 2 billion for educational initiatives, According to lottery officials. Officials noted that sales from the recent Mega Million’s Jackpot contributed to $ 78.8 million to public schools.

In addition, sales of California Lottery reached $ 9.27 billion in the 2023-24 financial year and surpassed the previous record of $ 9.24 billion dollars the year before.

The funds generated by the lottery are discretionary and can be used by school districts in various ways, including supplementing the general fund, attracting and retaining teachers and finance post-school programs, including uses.
