Good news about the potential freezing rain on the way to southern Michigan, see the changes

It’s been a while since a weather system has changed its look after Michigan just a few days before arrival. The weather producer on the way through Michigan on Wednesday night and Thursday morning faltering. It’s a good thing because it lowers the freezing rain accumulation quite a bit. After light The glaze period ends, we also get more help from Mother Nature.

Yesterday we looked at a tenth of an empty freezing rain over the southern half of Michigan and stains up to a quarter empty.

Now the recent short -term models are showing a shared weather system. The weather system has a piece of energy over the top peninsula and a piece of energy over Indiana and Ohio. This does not mean that Lower Michigan will not get any rainfall, but it will be much easier rainfall.

Here is a model that is the first short -term model we need when rainfall enters the 36 hours to 48 hours of timeframe. You see very little if some freezing rain. Several models now point to colder air high and love rainy lights a lot. All data also shows a dramatic reduction in the amount of snow or freezing rain.

So that’s how it goes: Light snow and freezing rain develops Wednesday night and continues only until the middle of the morning Thursday. Snowfall over the southern half of the lower Michigan will only be an inch or two. Snowfall over the northern lower Michigan will only be one to three inches.

The freezing rain accumulation must remain less than one tenth of an inch over the southern half of the lower Michigan. In fact, it can just be a few hundredths of an empty freezing rain.

Thursday morning driving could still be very smooth with even just a light coating of ice.

The next piece of good news is the gradual heating over freezing around noon Thursday. This should melt any lysis accumulation.

If you need to travel Thursday, delay the driving until very late morning or early afternoon allow salt to work on highways and intermediate states. At some point between noon and 15:00, any ice will naturally melt.

The highest chance of a slight Isaccumulation is over the populated southeastern part of the lower Michigan. Ann Arbor and Detroit could have a very smooth early Thursday morning.
