I fear we are only on the way a little closer to Brexit in name

So the EU -staring, I assume it really started last night. Keir Stormer is leaving for Brussels for dinner with the other European leaders.

The choice of location was fascinating. Palais d’Agmont, they never had dinners there. They almost always have them in the council building.

Why did they choose that building? Well, there was symbolism here, because that’s where Edward Heath went to sign the accession agreement in 1972.

I think it was a bit of a game and an attempt to ever so little humble the British Prime Minister.

We got a number of conclusions, one of which was that we want to elaborate on industrial cooperation. We are definitely going to get closer to the EU rules. We can even allow ECJ some supervision.

But much of what was discussed last night will be clearer at a summit that will happen in this country in mid -May.

I guess Sir Keir is really a joiner in the heart, and I fear we will only get the kind of head a little closer to Brexit in name.

As long as it doesn’t get too close, because if he does, it reduces our ability to be flexible with America.
