The White House preparing executive order to abolish the Institute of Education

The White House is preparing an executive order to eliminate the Institute of Education, told two sources familiar with the plans to NBC News.

President Donald Trump cannot unilaterally abolish a federal agency without the approval of Congress.

The planned order follows many years of campaign trucks from Trump to abolish the federal education department.

Last week, Trump signed another educational -related order to expand the school choice and instructed the education department to issue guidance to states within 60 days on how to use federal funds to increase school choice programs in their states.
