Sixers Handles Caleb Martin to Mavericks for Quentin Grimes, Draft Choice

The Caleb Martin era with the 76s was short-lived.

Sixers acted the tip of Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday in exchange for Quentin Grimes and a 2025 second round elections, sources confirmed. The second round originally belonged to Sixers and had been acquired by Dallas. The move came seven months after Martin signed a four -year contract of $ 35 million with Sixers.

In Grimes, Sixers acquired a 6-foot-5 shooting guard that can give depth. He average 10.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 47 games with 12 starts this season in Dallas. The 24-year-old native Houston shoots a career-best 39.8% on three-pointers this season.

Grimes was prepared by Los Angeles Clippers with the 25th election of the 2021 draft and traded for New York Knicks. After spending 2½ seasons in New York, he was traded for Detroit Pistons on February 8, 2023. The pistons, on his side, traded him to Mavs on July 6.

In its fourth season, Grimes comes to Philadelphia with a career average of 8.9 points and 2.8 rebounds in addition to being a 37.6% career three-point shooter.

Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings considered a potential trade for Martin before being sent to Mavs, according to a source. The source also said that Miami Heat was considering recovering their previous key role player.

Martin came to Sixers with high expectations. The team tabs 6-5, 205-pound as their underdimensioned power forward to play with the big three of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Paul George with role player Kelly Oubre Jr.

However, Martin has been hampered by injuries for most of the season. He missed the last 12 games and 17 hero, while he average 9.1 points and 4.4 rebounds and shoots 37.9% on three-pointers.

His best season match came against Boston Celtics 1st Christmas Day. The 29-year-old had 23 points on 8 out of 11 shoots, including walking 7-for-9 on three-pointers.

This also moves that Sixers gets a choice in June’s draft. If their first round does not fall in the first six choices, it goes to Oklahoma City Thunder. Sixers have another round of choice before making this step.

An interesting thing about the trade is Sixers entertains Dallas on Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Center.
