UFC Saudi -Arabia: Michael ‘Venom’ Side ends Sharabutdin Magomedov’s undefeated reign

Page, who has spent most of his career on Welterweight, fought Magomedov on the middle weight for the first time since 2012.

He has a victory and a defeat since joining the UFC last year, and while he intended to move back to welter weight, the chance to fight the 30-year-old Magomedov was too good to move on.

The Russian has won all 15 of his professional matches and became viral after a spectacular spinning backfist knockout in his last match in October.

Chants for Magomedov greeted the start of the match as noise levels rose, with fans excited about the prospect of the fight between the two flamboyant strikers.

With both warriors who were looking to control distance, the early stages of Magomedov had attacked with Benkicks and his opponent who were looking to land some big right hands.

Page’s movement and contradictory began to prove to be problematic for Magomedov with statistics showing in the second round that the British had landed 12 unanswered strikes against the head.

Page found a home for his jab while avoiding something dangerous from Magomedov, causing Russian team to tell their fighter he had to “leave everything” in the final round.

An explosive flying knee from Londoner brought gasps from the crowd before Russian applied the late pressure when the last bell sounded.

After serving a declaration victory and the largest of his short UFC career so far, Page suggested that he could even live on the middle weight.

“One thing I knew that coming out was that my body wouldn’t be used to this (weight). I have some work to do at 170 lb – so beware of guys because I come,” he added.
