10 things we noticed in the Fantastic Four: First Steps Trailer

After years of legal matches between Disney and anyone who dared to put one of Marvel’s Heroes on the big screen, the comic book publisher’s first family finally comes to MCU with The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The first trailer is out and the short teaser in 90 seconds gives us plenty to dissect. Let’s dive in.

Aspect relationship

The Fantastic Four: First Steps takes place in a 1960s-inspired retro future, so it is appropriate for the trailer to start in a 4: 3-picture ratio that you would have seen on television before the introduction of HD-Widescreen in the 90s and 2000s. It makes a transition to Widescreen a few seconds, so it is likely that most of the film will use the Standard 16: 9 image relationship seen in most modern films. But 4: 3 make comeback in recent years with Modern films like nickel boysSo I would not be surprised if the first steps had at least some segments in 4: 3. It showed 4: 3 segment has Pedro Pascal as Reed “Mr. Great “Richards and Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, alias the invisible woman who gives a tour of their home in the Baxter building, the group’s home base. It seems like a conscious choice to produce this idyllic household in 4: 3, then to transition to the 16: 9 format when superhero elements like the thing emerge, creating a contrast between the two tones.

Herbie And the thing is boiling together

Did you know that the “highly constructed robot built for interdimensional investigation” was introduced in an animated series from 1978 to replace the human torch in Fantastic Four because the new Fantastic Four did not have rights to the character? I did not know that until today, but it is fascinating that the little robot assistant has such a strange story and still managed to continue. I had my first exposure to him in Marvel rivals and helped him push a payload through Manhattan. Is Herbie Harley Quinn from Marvel Universe?

Still, Herbie appears with a suitable retro-future look and gives Rosey from Jetsons. He is shown cooking with the thing, portrayed (using CGI) by bear actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach. It is a sweet scene that shows that the hero is a gentle giant despite his rocky exterior. But I just think of the little robot guy. He tries his best. He does not have the taste buds to know that his recipe lacks the special thing.

Some flashbacks to the amazing four -origin story

Once again, we are back in 4: 3 and look at what seems to be archive recordings of Fantastic Four’s basic sailing in the room. (The group’s origin story involves the four astronauts who get their superhuman powers after exposure to cosmic rays during a mission in space.) While MCU chose to jump Spider-Man’s Origin History after bringing the character into the films a little late, it looks like Marvel will To some extent to explore Fantastic Four’s beginning in the first step. We see shots of what looks like Sue’s invisibility that manifests itself for the first time on their spaceship, and what sees old recordings of himself before his skin was replaced with rocks.

Things donate a well -known look

One of the things is the most iconic look sees him in a ditch coat and Fedora, traditionally a way for the living rock man to get around in incognito in the comics ever since the hero’s debut in the 60s. The look is so recognizable that Fans ask for that to emerge in Marvel rivals When he is added later in Season 1.

Yes, Johnny Storm is here too

Johnny Storm, the human torch, gets the least amount of screen time in the first trailer. But we get to see the fiery hero fly around and go off as the most carefree member of the team. Johnny is played by Joseph Quinn, known for his roles in A quiet place: day one and Stranger Things.

Great fans

It looks like Fantastic Four has a fandom in this movie. We can see some kids dressed up with things masks and t-shirts, so even though the big guy thinks he looks ugly now with a rock-based shape, the kids seem to love it.

The amazing

We see a short shot of the group running around what seems to be the amazing. The group’s vehicle has taken on a few different forms throughout the comics and other media, and some have even fled ships. In the first step, Fantasticar looks like a fairly standard period-passing sports car, complete with a blue-white color scheme. It seems like an appropriate change for the 60s-inspired aesthetics that the film goes after.

John Malkovich plays … someone

John Malkovich joins Marvel Cinematic Universe in the first step, but we still don’t know who the legendary actor is playing. We see his character go into the light of a dark room and we can see that he has sporting long hair and an unnoticed beard. Fans speculate He may be playing Red Ghost, a villain who has fought for Fantastic Four in the comics, but it is uncomfortable.

Galactus arrives on the ground

One of the last shots shows Galactus, the film’s most important antagonist, Voiced by Final Fantasy XVI actor Ralph Ineson. It is a fleeting twinkle from behind that shows him threateningly threatening New York and looking at the Statue of Liberty. He doesn’t speak either, so we don’t get to hear the rumbling bass of Ieson’s performance. But maybe it’s the kind of disclosure you want to save to close to the movie. Hell, it would be nice if we don’t even see him at all until the movie is out. I am curious about how the first steps will make a threat at Thanos level to something that Fantastic Four will meet alone.

One last shot of the group in costume

The trailer ends with a shot of the amazing four who donate their blue-white uniforms. It’s kind of giving Spirit Halloween, but I keep an open mind. This is intended to produce a different point in history than the rest of the MCU, after all, so it makes sense that they would not look as blank and high -tech as the rest of the heroes.

Surprisingly, we see everyone’s powers in this trailer except Mr. Fantastics. Maybe the stretches are at another time in the animation process and are not ready for primetime. We are likely to see him in action in the next trailer, sure to arrive sometime between now and when the movie is launched on July 25.
