US NAVY reveals photo of warship that fires high -powered laser weapons

The US Navy revealed a photo of a warship’s high -powered laser weapon in an annual report published last month.

The image published on the director of the director, Operational Test & Evaluation’s 2024 Report Showing the laser with high energy on the USS Preble, tested on a drone goal, the report says. It is unclear where the ship was stationed at that time.

There were no other details about the results of the department’s testing and evaluation.

To safely test laser weapons with high energy, the Defense Ministry would require new testing and training areas, the report says. Such facilities require full -specific safety equipment as well as radars and sensors that can collect data to assess the service.

Additional tests of laser weapons are expected to continue on US marine ships in 2025, according to Naval News The test first reported.

Last year, the Center for Motermasures completed 32 tests of different weapons and aircraft, according to DOT & E’s fiscal report.
