Washington – President Donald Trump wants one of his cabinet secretaries and top assistants to shoot themselves.

He told journalists in the Oval Office on Tuesday that Linda McMahon, his nominees to lead the US Ministry of Education, eventually “got out of a job.”

The president made the comments on widespread speculation that he is considering issuing an executive order to take steps to dismantle the Agency McMahon is set to Helm. An official in the White House confirmed to the United States today on Monday that the president is reassessing the future of the education department.

On the campaign track, Trump repeatedly promised to shut down the federal agency, though it is beyond his authority as president. Closing the department would require Congress to adopt new legislation, and Washington -Insiders are still skeptical, that his efforts will adopt legal or political pattern.

“Just because they want to do that doesn’t necessarily mean they could do it,” said Jon Fansmith, assistant vice president of government relations at American Council on Education, during a meeting with university officials on Tuesday.

Asked in the White House on Tuesday if he can abolish the agency by executive order, Trump said, “There are some people saying I could.” He also signaled an openness to collaborating with Congress and Teachers’ Associations to achieve this goal.

McMahon has not yet appeared to the US Senate. Planning her confirmation hearings has been stopped due to a delay in her ethics paper work, according to the Office of Government Ethics.
