Murder of Margate Mum Natasha Sadler-Ollis and friend Simon Gorecki examined on the Channel 5 Series ‘A Killer makes a call’

Channel 5 Series documents the murders of Natasha Sadler-Ollis and Simon Gorecki

The murder of a Margate-mother-of-three and her friend almost a decade ago will be documented in a new Channel 5 Series.

Series 2 of a killer makes a call will investigate the killing of Natasha Sadler-Ellis, 40 and Simon Gorecki, 48, who was deadly stabbed during an attack by Mechanic Foster Christian on a property in Canterbury in March 2016.

Natasha and Simon were killed after a series of hot water spiraling out of control. Simon and Foster both lived on the temporary accommodation property.

Natasha’s then 20-year-old son Connaugh and younger son Brandon, only 16 at the time, were also seriously injured by Foster. The youngest boy’s injuries were life -threatening.

In October 2016, Foster was sentenced to a full -time 30 years behind pillars. Two women who helped him by going to the double murder scene and getting rid of weapons were also imprisoned.

Naomi Toro, then 36, was jailed for a year after admitting to helping an offender, while Samantha Groombridge, then 19, was jailed for 10 weeks for transforming the course of justice. Groombridge was released after only five weeks behind the columns. Toro earned six months.

Natasha with Mother June

Natasha’s family, mother June and siblings Sheryl, Jodie and Steven, launched a campaign and petition against the ‘insufficient’ judgments given to the two women. They also made four complaints about how the prosecution was handled.

Two complaints were maintained, one partially maintained and a dismissed. An apology was made to the family by the lawyer Jeremy Wright, who had concerns with CPS on the criminal offense of Groombridge and Toro.

A killer makes a call focuses on murder cases where the person making the call is the killer. The program reveals the order of events leading up to the call and the study that determined the murderer’s identity and how they were caught.

Foster Christian had called emergencies to say he was injured and had acted in self -defense. He said the knife was his, even though he later claimed he had seized ‘their knife.’

Natasha’s family has been involved in the program in an attempt to have some control over how the story has been told and to keep her memory alive.

Mother June and Steven

Two-to Steven, who lives in Westgate, said: “Someone from the production contacted Jodie and said they were doing another series. They had examined and asked if it was something we would be a part of.

“We decided that if they made it anyway, and we were part of it, we could to some extent control what they said in it and we would keep my sister’s memory alive.”

Sisters Sheryl and Jodie

Film shooting took place in September with Jodie and Sheryl in Sheffield and then with Steven and June in Margate, at the boardwalk and at Natasha’s memorials close to the herb tower.

Steven, 37, said: “The film film made it a nice environment and approached it really well, but we went into some details that we hadn’t been down in the best part of a decade.

“It felt weird to go back there and talk about it, it wasn’t a nice time. But it was comforting to know that there was a purpose for it, and maybe it will resonate with someone or help someone who is in that place. “

Siblings: Jodie, Steven and Sheryl

Former Hartsdown student Natasha grew up in Margate, but had also lived in Belfast, Sheffield and Spain.

She ended a philosophy at Canterbury Christ Church University and had a love for English.

The former Drapers Mill student had volunteered for the British Heart Foundation and ran a marathon in Canterbury to raise cash for national autistic society – a cause close to the family’s hearts.

June and Natasha

She lived for her three boys aged 20, 16 and five at the time she died had a passion for drum and bass music and politics and an “all or nothing” approach to life.

Simon Gorecki was a father of three and a fishmonger at the Canterbury goods shed. The family described him as a ‘fun’ and ‘outgoing’ man with ‘a good heart.’

It is understood that some of Simon’s friends have also had input into the series.

A killer makes a call

A killer calls is on screen on February 4 at. 22 on channel 5. The entire series will be available for stream on my5.

The true crime series uses the actual recording of a call of 999 as a starting point to investigate a murder. Each episode focuses on another crime, but in both cases it shows the 999 call to be the killer.

Some callers compile a detailed alibi or as Foster Christian claims self -defense. Some try to hide their fault by acting as an innocent party, and others just call 999 to deliberately mislead the police.

In each case, the call is an important evidence in the search for justice as the police piece together the events that led to the murder.
