Mavericks vs. 76ers Recap: Dallas fades in 118-116 loss in Philadelphia

Dallas Mavericks lost toward Philadelphia 76ers118-116, despite an exciting comeback in the 4th quarter and some solid show from several different Dallas players.

Just as in Flux like the Dallas Mavericks program list is at the moment, there will not be a lot of solid, trendlin-forming takeaways from tonight’s game. The fact that Dallas still finds ways to stick to healthy teams is a testimony to their efforts, but there is just not enough cohesion or continuity when they are in close play like tonight.

The straw that broke the camel’s back was Daniel Gafford, who left the game late with a shoulder injury. Dallas just didn’t have the staff to prevent Joel Emphid from driving Ruhod over Dallas’ smaller lineup down the stretch in crunch time.

Hi, Max Christie

In essence to be a single shoot-around in his new graves in Dallas, Max Christie seemed to be a quick teacher. He suited as smoothly as could have been hoped. He grabbed a seasonal height eight rebounds and scored 15 points to start. It’s just the seventh time Christie scored 15 or more this season, so working so well in a debut with a new team showing impressive flexibility.

He also showed some solid team synergy as he grabbed an offensive board and immediately whipped it in full court to Kyrie Irving, leaked out of a light bucket late in the fourth that got Dallas back to one. There is a lot to build on with this debut.

Scroll deeply

The level of competence that Mavs can roll down to their 12th man is impressive. Dante Exum and Kessler Edwards were at the start of five, but Spencer Dinwiddie, Naji Marshall and the newly acquired Max Christie played all double -digit minutes from the bench. The variegated crew took a team with Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid to the cord.

If nothing else, a good exhibition for the coward General Manager Nico Harrison to show his shining bullets to the rest of the league so he can pull out some more trades that he seems psychologically unable to prevent himself from doing .

Grabbed boards, unanswered options

Mavericks did well as a team on the glass tonight, especially at the offensive end. As a unit, they rolled in 15 offensive rebounds, but unfortunately were only able to walk 5-of-13 in the second-chance scoring options for 17 points. It was better than Philly’s 11 points, but an area where Dallas left something on the table.

A break in the third quarter that saw Dallas’ seven-point lead turn into a seven-point deficit. Daniel Gafford, usually an efficiency machine when he gets the ball down, missed an uncharacteristically large number of setbacks. Having ankiid duty on the defensive end could have jumped some of the energy that usually goes into getting the ball over the edge.
