Bindi Irwin Detailed Secret 10-year-old health struggle causing ‘so much pain’

Bindi Irwin talks about the secret 10-year-old health struggle that left her in “so much pain all the time”.

The 26-year-old preservative for wildlife and daughter of deceased Steve Irwin reveals that she had “fought” privately for a decade before her symptoms were finally diagnosed.

Bindi opened up on A life of greatness Podcast about her illness that caused her constant pain, extreme fatigue, frequent vomiting, anxiety and depression.

“Behind closed doors, I struggled to do everything and everything,” she said.

“I think people must have thought that I was just incredibly flassing because I got so sick … I would try to get up and I really just wanted to throw up. I had so much pain all the time, ‘ added Bindi.

Bindi revealed that she underwent several scans and tests, including CT scans, MRIs, ultrasound and blood tests for “any tropical illness” but “nothing came back”.

Bindi was diagnosed with endometriosis after a 10-year battle

After walking back and forth for years with doctors who told her that her symptoms were “just part of being a woman”, Bindi was finally diagnosed with endometriosis.

According to Mayo ClinicEndometriosis “is an often overwhelming condition where tissues that resemble the inner lining of the uterus grow outside the uterus. It often affects the ovaries, fallopian tubes and woven lining of the pelvis.”

Bindi was in extreme pain and fought daily

“Endometriosis is a huge problem for so many people, and it’s not talked about enough. I went 10 years undiagnosed because doctors didn’t know enough,” Mom told one.

“I was so sick for so long,” she added, revealing that she underwent an operation in the United States after she was diagnosed with over 30 lesions of endometriosis.

Bindi was supported by her family

Bindi said the only people who knew about her health struggles were her family, husband Chandler Powell, Mother Terri and younger brother Robert.

“I was so lucky where I had such a supportive family, and they never gave up on me,” she said.

“They treated it for 10 years as much as I did, tried to find answers and help me along the way and say, ‘Hi, you collapsed on the floor. You should probably get help and you shouldn’t’ I listen to the doctors, that says this is normal ‘.

“But so many people do not have the circle of people that they can trust. And then you turn to the medical industry looking for help, and it can cause anxiety and depression – it is very isolating.”

To become a mother encouraged bindi to seek medical help

She added, “And this is where it’s just so hard. So you turn to people that you think will help you, and sometimes you don’t get the care that you desperately deserve.”

Becoming the mother of her daughter Grace, three, it was pushbindi needed to seek medical help after years of suffering.

“When I was so sick, it was hard to be the mother I would be. Then I thought I have to do something. This can’t just be in my head,” she explained.

Bindi is in a much better place after surgery

Although there is no cure for endometriosis, Bindi admitted that having surgery has drastically improved her quality of life.

“There is no cure, but if you get surgery, you have a better shot at life,” she said. “Maybe in five or 10 years I need someone else, but so far I’m so grateful.”
