Open Thread: Colorado Avalanche vs. Vancouver Canucks (20:00)

Avalanche is back on the road after a very lucrative and successful home state and is ready to turn towards Vancouver Canucks In Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC. Avalanche took advantage of a flyers team that had not scored for six periods, and Mackenzie Blackwood logged her second consecutive closure in Colorado last time. Canucks are 4-5-1 in their last ten and have dropped two straight matches on their way into tonight’s competition. Can Avalanche push their line to three matches, or will Vancouver do what they did in December and secure a home win over Colorado?

Colorado Avalanche

The new look AVS has grown on me despite my first reaction to the Mikko Rantan trade. It’s early, but Colorado’s Powerplay seems rejuvenated and the forward depth appears. I gave Macfarland a lot of grief to say that the team would “compensate for it overall” as it related to repeating Mikko’s production, but that’s exactly what happens. Marty Necas has five points in his five games with Colorado and Jack Drury has two points in the same timeframe. While in Colorado, Mikko cut about half a point per day. Match.

Mackenzie Blackwood quickly becomes one of the best net memories of the league, both statistically and in terms of success. His 2.03 gaa and .925 SV % in Colorado are ideal measurements and have manifested in twelve wins in only 18 starts. Let’s hope that Big Mack can expand it tonight!

One more thing: Looks like the Colorado car crisis has finally ended! Comcast and height appear to have entered into an agreement to return the height of XFinity users. My only question is what took so long?

Note: Valeri Nichushkin has been placed on the injury sanctuary back to 31 December 2024, and Oliver Kylington has been activated.

Vancouver Canucks

It’s been a stormy time in Vancouver recently, with a lot of drama stealing the headlines in BC. It may end up with JT’s removal and trade. Miller was released (allegedly) because of a quarrel, verbal or otherwise with teammate Elias Pettersson. Whatever happened, it was enough for canucks to pick a page and move on from Miller in a deal with rangers that returned Filip ChytilAt Victor Manciniand a first round of election in 2025 NHL draft.

Currently, Canucks Management is playing a dangerous game. Go on from Miller pulled a clear line in the sand and showed that they are loyal to the young Elias Pettersson, but if they are not aware of one or child. I say that avalanche pours salt on the wound with a dominant victory.

Goals

With backup Scott Wedgewood still on the mind with a upper body injury, I assume that avalanche will ride the hot hand and go with Mackenzie Blackwood. As for Canucks, Thatcher Demko is the unconfirmed starter.
