Trump Tapping ‘Sharpiegate’ Scientist Neil Jacobs to lead the US weather agency

The Trump administration has utilized Neil Jacobs, a scientist cited as disproportionate in connection with “Sharpiegate” forecasting controvers, to direct the agency that oversees US governmental weather forecasts and climate research.

Jacobs’ nomination as leader of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration was formal submitted to Congress Monday. As acting administrator of NOAA in 2019 he reprimanded employees to oppose president Donald Trump‘s inaccurate claim that a hurricane would beat Alabama. The agency later said that Jacobs’ actions violated its ethical code.
