11 Confirmed Death After Mass Shooting At Adult Education School in Sweden

Sweden police have shared an update on the death toll after a shooting at an adult education school, confirming that at least 11 people have died of the incident.

Officers said that the person they think is the suspect is among the deceased, and they believe they “acted alone without ideological motive”, according to the release.

“It is an incredibly tragic event that has primarily influenced the victims and their relatives and affects the whole of Sweden,” said local police chief Roberto Eid Forest in a statement.

“At present, there are 11 deaths due to the incident. The number of wounded is still unclear,” police added.

The authorities have “worked with full strength to investigate the matter and secure the security of Örebro and around the country. Right now we focus on identifying, among other things, the deceased and notifying relatives,” the release states.

Officers urged people “not to spread rumors and speculation” in the release and added “Currently, police do not see any general threat to schools and kindergartens in the country. This also applies to adult education.”

Police said they do not “currently see any danger to the public” and will continue to monitor “the situation and evaluate and assess new information on an ongoing basis to determine if we need to intervene.”

The Associated Press Reported that the school serves people over 20 years of age and offers both elementary school classes. It is also believed to include programs for immigrants trying to learn Swedish and vocational education for people with intellectual disabilities.

The Swedish Prime Minister said Ulf Kristerssson Post on x Tuesday, “It is with sadness that I have received information about the terrible act of violence in Örebro. My thoughts are with those who have been affected and their relatives.”

“It’s a very painful day for all Sweden. My thoughts are also with all those whose normal school day was replaced with terror. Being limited to a classroom with fear of your own life is a nightmare that no one should have to experience, “He added in the post.

Peter Larsson, mayor of Örebro Municipality, said in one News message“We think first and foremost of those affected and everyone close to them, and I will express my deepest sympathy for them.”

“We in Örebro Municipality take an incident like this very seriously, which affects both the individual and our society,” insisted Larsson, adding that “now we have to help each other move forward.”

The Swedish police authority did not respond immediately when contacted by people for further information.
