Postal Service to Resume Accepting China Shipments

The US Post Service has agreed to resume acceptance of shipments from China, less than 24 hours after announcing it would stop doing so.

“From February 5, 2025, the postal service will continue to accept all international incoming mail and packages from China and Hong Kong positions,” it said in a Updated statement Wednesday morning. “USPS and Customs and Border Protection work closely together to implement an effective collection mechanism for the new China tariffs to ensure that the least disruption of the package delivery.”

The postal service had previously announced that it would stop accepting packages from China as well as Hong Kong in the wake of the Trump administration’s decision to introduce a new round of 10% duty on all goods coming from the country.

Letter and apartments were not affected by the initial message. While the Post Service did not give an explanation of shipping stops, Trump ended a so -called “de minimis” exemption from Chinese goods worth less than $ 800 to give the customs facility.
