Winter storms spur through midwest, northeast of a foreseeable future

Winter storms are flashing through the eastern half of the United States at a frenetic pace that could continue for a few weeks.

The jet stream, essentially, a river of air in the atmosphere that storms flows through, is locked in an almost perfect line from west to east, and will storm storms above the northern level of the lower 48.

New storms arrive every few days until the jet stream changes – something that may not happen until the second half of February.

The first storm is formed on Wednesday afternoon over the Central Mississippi valley and eventually spreads wintry rainfall over more than 1,000 miles from the eastern United States from Missouri to Maine. It will strengthen and hit its step overnight Wednesday as it releases a messy mixture of gossip, freezes rain, snow and rain over the midwest and into parts of the northeast until Thursday.

Dangerous ice cream capable of knocking out the stream and turning roads to ice skating will be this storm’s biggest threat. It is created by a clash of cold air with the same unusually hot air that has sent temperatures sky -high in the south.

A storm spreads an icy mix over more than 1,000 miles of the United States.

An area that extends from Missouri to southern New England ends with at least one light but still treacherous, glaze of ice cream from Wednesday to Thursday.

The biggest chance of at least 0.10 inches of ice will extend from northern Indiana and Ohio to central Pennsylvania and the mountainous terrain in Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia.

More than 0.25 inches of ice could accumulate in a few places – especially in central and southern Pennsylvania and the western Maryland. This amount can weigh trees and power lines – cause power cuts – and make travel dangerous to cross -border impossible.

This will not be a large snow machine, except in the northern large lakes. Instead, many places will see a messy mixture of almost any precipitation type: gossip, freezing rain, snow and rain.

Defeating could briefly start as a mixture of gossip and freeze rain in Chicago on Wednesday night, before mainly switching to freezing rain overnight. Somewhat freezing rain or dripping will be hanging overnight before they gradually come to an end of sunrise Thursday.

A forecast model shows where ICE will build from the storm on Wednesday to Thursday.

Cleveland is likely to experience freezing of rain overnight Wednesday with some sleet that may have been mixed to start. Defeating can end like rain on Thursday morning when temperatures climb over freezing.

The icy mix reaches parts of the Appalachians during the earliest hours on Thursday morning and expanded to cover large parts of northeastern all day.

There will even be a mixture in Pennsylvania, which will carry the head of the ice cream. Beated and freezing rain is possible throughout most of the state on Thursday morning with the highest concentration of freezing rain probably in central and southern parts.

Warmer air will rush behind the storm on Thursday and help melt some of the mess away. But it won’t be long before Cold Creeps back in, and another storm arrives with an intense feeling of Déjà vu.

The next storm is likely to develop in the plains late Friday and strengthen early Saturday. Saturday to Sunday it quickly spreads a mixture of snow, gossip, freezing rain and rain over an area almost identical to this week’s first storm.

The exact timing, type and rainfall of the storm still come into focus, but another seizure of disturbing glaze is possible for the midwest and northeast. Some areas will only have just over 24 hours in between when influences from the first storm end and problems from the second begin.

Additional storms are possible next week for the eastern half of the country as the active pattern continues. Forecast models suggest another far -reaching storm next Tuesday and Wednesday, and another storm around the middle of the month.
