Five-Star Ot Ty Haywood Caps Strong Michigan Recruiting Class

Five Star’s offensive tackle ty Haywood-the top remaining no obligation in the 2025 class signed with Michigan on Wednesday morning, uncovering a Torrid finish for the recruitment cycle for coach Sherrone Moore and Wolverines in the early hours of National Signing Day.

Haywood, a one-time Alabama obligation, is ESPN’s No. 16 total recruits and third ranked offensive tackle views in the 2025 class. The 6-Foot-5, 285-Pound Lineman chose not to sign during the early signing period in December and was interrupted from Crimson Tide last month before formally committed to Michigan on Wednesday at a ceremony at Ryan High School in Denton, Texas , In the midst of great interest from Florida State and Texas Tech.

Haywood stands as the second highest ranked member of Wolverines’ 2025 class, which draws only No. 1 overall view and five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood among recruits set to join the Michigan in the 2025 season. “We all have the same mindset to win,” Haywood told ESPN. “We will go in and do what we need to do. But we will also have fun with this process and this next chapter in life. I’m ready to dominate, win games and make it a fun time in our lives.”

Closed with Haywood’s commitment, Michigan has executed one of the strongest recruitment races across the country in 2025 in the last stages of Moore’s first cycle of the program that waves late despite Wolverines’ 8-5 finishes for the 2024 season.

Michigan kept promises from only four any blue-chip Signes when four-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola (No. 28 overall) committed to the program on October 21, 2024, and kicked a series of six top-100 lifters ending Say to Wolverines’ 2025 class in the seven weeks before the early signing period began December 4th.

The opportunity to play in SEC told Haywood to ESPN, was a dream, and he would have been the second ranked member of the coach of the Coach Kalen DeBeboer’s debut class if he had eventually landed with Crimson Tide. Still, Haywood never signed, reopening his recruitment in the new year.

“Life doesn’t always happen as you want it to happen,” he said. “You will find better opportunities in life. I hoped to explore my options more in the recruitment process.”

Michigan, Florida State and Texas Tech quickly appeared last month when they are the primary challenges of landing Haywood. Wolverines and Seminoles visited home visits to Haywood in January, before Haywood said his recruitment swung on an official visit to Michigan over the weekend of January 17, where his comfort on campus as well as with Moore and offensive line trainer Grant Newsome sealed his commitment.

“They made sure my mother was fine,” he said. “They made sure my brother who came with me was having fun. When you chose a place, it’s not just for you it’s for your family. That’s part of what made it to me.

“Coach Moore is a former offensive Lineman, and Coach Newsome is also a fantastic guy,” Haywood continued. “These guys understand what it takes to prepare every day, train and win games. They know what it takes.”

Haywood and Babalola-Spns No. 8 Offensive Tackle Represent Michigan’s top offensive line signing in ESPN recruiting ranking that dates from 2006. Between them the program has not only a few blue-chip-linemen to protect Underwood but elite bookends for a Unique recruitment finish for Moore and Wolverines in the 2025 class.
