Knicks Trade Jericho Sims to Bucks at Eve of NBA -Trade Deadline

Knicks made an expected step by unloading Jericho Sims in a small deal on Wednesday and sent the backup center to Milwaukee Bucks for veteran Guard Delon Wright, a league source confirmed.

Knicks had been shopping for Sims for more than a month, which the position first reported, and facilitated the deal for a new place for the 26-year-old after he was dropped from Tom Thibodeau’s rotation.

Wright, 32, played 26 games this season for Bucks.

He is a 10-year-old veterinarian who joins his 10th team.

A source said Knicks is planning to keep Wright so far.

He is on a guaranteed agreement with a specialty in defense as a 6-foot-5 combo guard.

He also played with boats and Anunoby in Toronto and Jalen Brunson in Dallas.

Still, Wright has fought this season with his shot and hit only 27 percent of his shots off the field.

He could theoretically compete for a rotational place in a thin wing position for Knicks that has used Landry Shamet in a reserve role but not consistent.

Sims was among the longest-rented Knicks after being drafted late in 2021 the second round. He began at intervals of damage to Mitchell Robinson, Isaiah Hartenstein and Karl-Anthony Towns.

However, his role was also sporadic in the middle of offensive matches.

He went from the first backup center to DNPs, fell behind Precious Achiuwa and even rookie Ariel Hukporti in recent matches.

Sims, a former slam dunk participant, average 2.4 points and 3.9 rebounds of 72 percent shoot over 177 games with Knicks.

A source said he was looking forward to a new start.

The trade also recovered cash considerations to New York.

Random drafts of rights were also swapped, which has become a characteristic of recent Knicks dealer and typically means nothing because the players do not come to the NBA.

Knicks gave up the rights to Mathias Lessort for the rights to Hugo Besson, said a league source.

Besson, a 23-year-old guard from France, was drawn up in NBA at No. 58 gathered in 2022.
