Weather warning tonight for thunderstorms and flooding potential

A very active night and Thursday morning is ahead as heavy rain and thunderstorms rise over the area after sunset.

Some short freezing rain can result in smoothness tonight in the inner ohio before switching to ordinary rain. A winter weather counseling is in force north of Portsmouth and around Athens up in the Columbus Metro area.

Rainytotals of 1-3 inches are probably with locally higher quantities, which will result in flash flooding.

A flooding watch has been issued from National Weather Service for Thursday afternoon.

In addition, thunderstorms can produce large hail, harmful wind throw and even possible accommodation isolated tornadoes. It would most likely occur over the southern half of Kentucky and West Virginia.

It makes this a potentially dangerous situation and it is imperative to have a way to be warned overnight in the event of warnings that are likely to be issued.
