William “Bill” Lee Akers Necrologist 4th February 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we advertise the departure to William (Bill) Akers, a beloved father, grandfather and friend who left us on February 4, 2025.

He was 80 years old and was born in Vallejo, California, on February 25, 1944.Bill was a proud American Air Force Veteran who served as a pilot during the Vietnam War. After his service, he settled in the Twin Cities area, where he enjoyed a life rich in family, friendship and outdoor persecution. A passionate open airman he loved to hunt, fish and golf. Whether it threw a line, took a swing or enjoy it quietly in the woods, it was the moments he loved the most. A devoted fan of Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings, Bill spent countless hours rooting for his favorite teams, always with a sense of pride for his home state. His love of sport was only matched by his love for his family.

He was the proud father of three children and a grandfather of nine grandchildren, who each brought him immense joy. His heritage lives on in their hearts and memories.

He was launched to death by his parents, Leonard Akers and Marian Pinson, and his brother, Don Akers.

Among the many friendships that defined his life stood two beyond the rest. His dear friend Terry Ripley and his cousin Jim Trowler always had a special place in his heart. He often shared good stories about their time together, and the memories they made were deeply appreciated.

Bill’s sense of humor and kindness will be missed by everyone who knew him. He touched many lives with his warmth and will forever be remembered with love.

May he rest in peace.

A private family burial is held.
