Brunswick Co. Sheriff’s Office warns of toll fraud

Brunswick County, NC (WECT) – Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) warns of fake Robotekt -scams who make up as Toll Road Collection Services.

The text claims you owe unpaid fees and push you to click a link.

In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s office shared a few tips:

Do not click on unknown links.
Fastrak (or any other toll company) texts for payments.
Do you have a suspicious text? Delete it.
Clicked on the link? Report it at www.ncdoj.gov/complaint or call 1-877-5-no-Scam.

According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, toll payments can only be made through NC Quick Pass and Toll Invoice.
