Winter weather advisers in effect for 20+ michigan -mates due to freezing rain – what to know

Winter weather counseling has been issued to several counties in Michigan as freezing rain is expected to move through the state.

Freezing rain will move into the state from the south just after midnight Wednesday and be more widespread over southeast Michigan from 1 p.m. 4 to 7 Thursday.

Meteorologists say it is expected that ice collections are expected of up to one tenth of an inch, with total gossip and snow collection of up to 1 inch possible.

The freezing rain will make untreated roads and sidewalks smooth. Drivers are advised to give more time to their commuter on Thursday morning. These icy weather conditions can also cause school closures.

Due to these weather conditions, winter weather advisers have been issued to the following southeastern Michigan mates from 1 p.m. 22 Wednesday, February 4, 2025 to 7 p.m. 9 Thursday, February 5, 2025:

• Lape

• Lenawee

• Livingston

• Macomb

• Monroe

• Oakland

• Shiawassee

• St. Clair

• Washtenaw

• Wayne

National Weather Service in Grand Rapids also issued winter weather advice for several counties in this region due to freezing rain.

The advisers are also in effect from 1 p.m. 22 Wednesday to 7 p.m. 9 Thursday morning and includes the following counties:

• Allegan

• Barry

• Calhoun

• Clinton

• Eaton

• Ionia

• Ingham

• Jackson

• Kalamazoo

• Kent

• Muskegon

• Ottawa

• Van Buren
