NJ School District on the verge of closing a middle school

An Ocean County School District is considering whether to close another school building in less than a year due to cuts in the state budget.

Jackson School Board planned a poll Wednesday night Closure of Carl W. Goetz Middle SchoolAccording to the K-12 district’s website.

According to the plan, the Jackson Memorial High School would be converted to the K-12 district’s lonely middle school. Jackson Liberty High School would be the only high school for grade 9 to 12.

Wednesday’s meeting starts at. 18.00

The possible closure of the middle school follows last year’s closure of a public school in Jackson.

The Jackson School District administrators cited the impact of $ 22.4 million in reducing state aid over seven years when discussing the end of Sylvia Rosenauer Elementary School last June.

The school board accepted a $ 13.1 million bid in December from BAIS Yaakov from Jackson. Bais Yaakov is Affiliated with the All-Girls’ Bais Faiga School, an Orthodox Jewish School in neighboring Lakewood, Asbury Park Press reported.

The district cannot sell Goetz Middle School. On its website, the school district officials say they may be trying to rent the building out.

Jackson Liberty High School opened in 2006, more than four decades after the Jackson Memorial High School.

Of the district’s six primary schools, Sylvia Rosenauer had the lowest registration with 265 students.
