Heavy snow, gossip and freezing rain are expected over the Midwest and Northeast, starting Wednesday, with the first of two winter storms, which probably result in “significant” Isaccumulation in some areas and affects travel, according to National Weather Service.

The storm – as the weather channel has Called Winter Storm Freya-Bringer a “widespread cut” of heavy snow, gossip and freezes rain from the midwest and the Great Lakes region to Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, with the heaviest snowfall of up to “more inches” expected over the top midwest and upper Michigan, National Weather Service said.

Several cities are likely to experience heavy snowfall or freezing rain, including New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Cleveland and Chicago, as winter weather counseling has been issued to most areas in Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, Ohio and Northern Illinois.

Agency warned about “Less” freezing of rain accumulations on roads in the midwest and the northeast, resulting in “dangerous” travel conditions with up to a quarter empty freezing rain expected on Interstates 81, 80, 75, 70 and 68.

Up to a quarter of an inch of “significant” Isaccumulation in the mid -Atlantic, including in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and northern Virginia, potentially causing “dangerous” travel conditions and results in some power cuts and wood damage, according to National Weather Service.

Where will Winter Storm Freya Frame?

Winter weather advisers have been issued to parts of 19 states, including areas of northwestern Oklahoma, eastern Nebraska, Northern Arkansas, southern Iowa, Northern Illinois, Southern and North Western Wisconsin, Northeastern Minnesota, Northern Indiana, Southern Michigan, Ohio, Pennvania , Northern Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Southern Vermont and Rhode Island. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued to Upper Michigan, while an Ice Storm warning has been issued to parts of western Pennsylvania, eastern West Virginia and northern Virginia.

Will Winter Storm Freya cause delayed and canceled flights?

Larger airlines have issued travel registrations throughout the northeastern and midwest, as some flights may face cancellations or delays. Delta Airlines issued advisers for 29 airports throughout the central and eastern United States for Wednesday and Friday, including New York City’s Laguardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport as well as Chicago O’Hare International Airport. American Airlines has released travel alarms for Philadelphia International Airport and New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport, among others. United Airlines, Jetblue Airways, Southwest Airlines and Spirit Airlines has also each issued travel advisors.

What to look at

Another winter storm is expected to begin on Thursday and continue through the weekend, forecasters said. Snowfall begins in California’s Sierra Nevada before reaching the northern Rocky Mountains on Friday. The storm probably reaches the big lakes, the mid -Atlantic and northeastern Saturday and affects a region from Minneapolis to Boston, where several centimeters of snow are expected.
