Winter storms to bring snow, ice and rain to nyc and tri-state in the first half of February

New York (WABC) – Expect treacherous journey to the morning commuting on Thursday as a winter storm brings snow, ice and rain to New York City and the Tri State.

The storm is expected to arrive around 1 p.m. 3 with the top in the rush hour.

We expect a few hours of snow in New York City and over large parts of the area.

When warmer air moves in, the snow will change to gossip and freezing rain, ultimately to all rain.

The farther north you live, the longer the transition will take – so more snow!

Lee Goldberg breaks Thursday’s Accuweather alarm for a winter mix.

National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Tri-State area.

Accumulations will vary from a coating to 2 inches in New York City and up to 4 inches north and west, where higher heights get the most.

On top of the snow, some areas could receive about a tenth of an empty ice, creating for dangerous driving conditions.

Alternative side parking is suspended in New York City Thursday.

DSNY Brined both car and bike paths on Wednesday and planned to start salt surgery early Thursday. More than 700 salt spreaders are full and ready to go. Combination of salt water and salt limits the accumulation of snow and isakretion.

There is no expected change of collection operation and New Yorkers should continue to follow their regular timetable for Recycle Bin, Recycling and Composable Material, unless otherwise notified.

In New Jersey, the Department of Transport (NJDOT) has issued a commercial vehicle travel restriction on several intergovernmental motorways in the state starting at midnight Thursday.

The travel restriction of the commercial vehicles will be in place so far to the following highways in both directions: I-78, I-80, I-280, I-287, for the entire length and NJ Route 440 from outerbridge Crossing to I-287 . The travel restriction of the commercial vehicle applies to: all tractor trailers, empty straight CDL-weighted trucks, passenger cars that are dragging trailers, recreational vehicles and motorcycles. In addition to the commercial restrictions, all motorists are encouraged to avoid unnecessary trips on Thursday morning.

This storm will be out of the area early afternoon. Roads will be just wet for the evening commuting, but still icy good north and west of the city.

After a quick day on Friday, another storm moves into the area on Saturday. It will be a repeated performance later Saturday to Sunday morning.

The extended views look colder with a number of storms. The first on Tuesday night to Wednesday looks rather cunning.
