No. 17 badgers fall to the terrapins on the road

College Park, Md. And No. 17 Wisconsin men’s basketball team fell to Maryland in a mid-week road trip on Wednesday night, with Terrapins taking the victory, 76-68. Maryland found a scoring spark to pull away from Badgers who outscored the UW 44-37 in the second half.

Despite only a 1-point half-time deficit, badgers were unable to fight back against a torrid other half from Terrapins. Maryland shot 7-for-11 from a distance in the other stanza to pull away.

For Wisconsin, John Tonje scored 23 points and went 5-for-8 from 3-point reach. Steven Crowl Added 10 points, nine rebounds and three assists. John Blackwell scored 10 points, everyone came in the second half.

The teams traded races in the second half, each having a lead under the frame. In the end, a late game 11-0 race Terrapins gave a big advantage. A final-minute push from Badgers brought the team back within six points, but eventually fell 76-68.

The badger was unable to contain Maryland’s shooting, where Terrapins went 7-for-11 in the second half. Terps also went 11-for-14 from the free throwing line during this frame, ensuring that their lead would remain intact.

The teams were locked in a defensive match during the first half. Management never went over seven points for both teams, with each team out against bad trouble early. No team shot over 40% in the first frame and Wisconsin was facing a deficit of one point that went into pause, despite 11 points from John Tonje.

Despite dry shooting-tiled forms and first half revenue, badgers remained in the game thanks to congestion and physically. UW exceeded Maryland 39-38, scored 12 Second Chance Points and Outscored Terps in the Maling, 24-20.
