Ice storm shadows more freezing rain, gossip to hit these states

February is typical Snowfest Month in the Northeastern United StatesAnd this month seems to be no exception as a surface of snow seems likely to be likely to be large parts of the region over the next few days.

From an ice cream and blizzard on Thursday, a number of winter systems are expected to slam parts of the Midwest, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic with dangerous travel conditions through the middle of next week, forecasters said.

“February starts with a very stormy pattern,” Accuweather Meteorologist Bernie Rayno said. “A parade of three winter storms brings snow, ice and sleet to millions of people from the midwest through the northeast.”

Ice Storm Warning Actually Thursday Morning

Some of the worst weather Thursday will be in Appalachians of Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia, where a Ice Storm Warning remains in effect until noon due to the forecast of freezing rain.

“Power cuts and wood damage is probably due to the ice,” National Weather Service said. “Travel could be almost impossible.”

Accuweather Senior Meteorologist Marshall Moss warned drivers that “freezing rain is the most dangerous rainfall for travel, there is no traction at all.” He added that “ice cream patches are clear, making it difficult for drivers to tell if roads are icy or just wet.”

As the storm runs to the north, snow collections of 1-3 inches are also expected across parts of northeastern Pennsylvania, northern New Jersey, New York City and Maine, with a plowly 3-6 inch of snow expected in the higher heights of Northern New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, said Accuweather.

A breath Friday, then a weekend storm

After a break Friday, another storm is expected for the weekend. According to Weather.com Meteorologist Chris Dolce“Snow and an ice stripe probably seem to develop on Saturday from the northern plains and large lakes to parts of the mid -Atlantic and northeast.”

The weather service said that gossip and freezing rain are probably across parts of Mid-Atlantic, New York and southern New England, which can be dangerous.

The most important risk of glaze on Saturday is in northern Ohio and across parts of southwestern, central and northern Pennsylvania, according to Accuweather.

Said Dolce The Interstate 95 corridor could at least start with a burst of snow, including around New York City and Philadelphia before switching to a winter mix and/or rain. “Boston may remain snow for an extended period of time and jumps up several centimeters.”

Winter storms also expected next week

L Ong-term computer model Forecast Guidance suggests that this active winter storm pattern can continue in the Midwest and East next week, Dolce said.

“With colder air going south, there is a chance that the areas of snow and/or ice may be further south compared to what we see through this week,” he said.

Accuweather Senior Meteorologist Joe Lundberg Said, “From late Monday to Wednesday, a storm comes from Texas and moves to the middle Atlantic coast, with a larger cut of snow and ice north of its path, and the potential of heavy rain and severe weather across the south into the southeast. “
