Breeze Airways to launch new flights at Memphis Airport: Where they go

An UTAH-based cheap carrier comes to Memphis International Airport, with service to three destinations to be launched this spring.

Breeze Airways Advertised Wednesday that it will offer direct routes from Memphis to Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) and Tampa International Airport (TPA), as well as a one-stop flight from Memphis to (Providence) Rhode Island TF Green International Airport (PVD) .

The flights begin in May and the reservation is available now.

“We are happy to bring our premium cheap service to Memphis and know that society will enjoy the experience they have at Breeze,” David Neeleman, Breeze Airways’ founder and CEO, said in a news announcement. “Memphis is a perfect fit for Breeze’s business model to connect unjustifiable and underrated secondary markets, including Raleigh-Durham, Tampa and Providence, and we are happy to bring practical, direct flights to society this spring.”

Flights’ schedules and frequency are:

  • Breezes flights from Mem to Raleigh-Durham start May 9 and flies out on Mondays and Fridays. Initial prices start a road to $ 49.
  • The Tampa flight starts May 7 and flies out on Wednesdays and Saturdays with preliminary ticket prices beginning a road to $ 45.
  • Providence -the route starts May 9 and flies out on Mondays and Fridays. The flight will be one -stop/no change of aircraft “Breezethru” service that stops at RDU before heading towards Providence, according to Lukas Johnson, Breezes Chief Commercial Officer.

What do the extra flights mean for Memphis International Airport?

Glen Thomas is Memphis and Shelby County Airport Authority Communications Director. Thomas told the commercial appeal that airport officials are constantly meeting with airlines regularly and have had productive discussions with breeze for the past few years. He noted that Memphis International Airport is pleased to see these discussions result in direct service.

In the case of Raleigh-Durham, Avelo Airlines directly ended seasonal service to RDU from Memphis in September 2023, after the Houston-based cheap airline launched the popular North Carolina business destination in June of that year.

“Both of these extra nonstops are very welcome additions to MEM,” Thomas said. “Rdu was our top uservered destination, so it’s been a highest priority. Tampa is also a popular destination for Memphians, and the new breeze route will give our passengers additional cheap options. In addition, the easy connection to Providence is an additional advantage of These new routes.

According to Thomas, Memphis International Airport has about 126 passengers every day each way between Memphis and the Tampa area and about 65 passengers every day between MEM and Raleigh-Durham.

“The launch of Breeze Airways Service at MEM is a huge development for Memphis passengers when RDU was our top Uservered Destination,” Michael Keeney, chairman of Memphis-Helby County Airport Authority Board of Commissioners, said in a news message. “In addition, the Tampa service provides more choices for passengers who want to travel to this popular Florida destination. We expect our passengers to embrace Breeze and the new routes they offer. ”

What are Breeze Airways and why did it want to bring Air Service to Memphis?

Breeze Airways is headquartered in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Breee’s operations launched in May 2021 brought Premium air service to secondary markets on its flagship fleet of Airbus A220-300 aircraft. Breeze Airways operates more than 200 year round and seasonal routes to 68 cities (including Memphis) in 31 states.

Memphis International will be Breeze Airways’ only service out of Tennessee. Johnson said that when Breeze Airways started, it had service out of Nashville for a short time, but later suspended and ceased flights out of Nashville International Airport.

“It was a very competitive market with the big carrier there, so we know we fit Memphis much better,” Johnson said. “It’s not a big connection hub, but it has a lot of traffic. Most of this traffic will only connect nodes from other carriers, so it’s a lot of nonstop routes that we think we can make out of Memphis. We are happy to start with a few and see how they are going. “
