He says it is normal to see an uptick in fires between November to February and that there are various reasons for what causes the rise in fires through these months.

“Then there are a lot of obvious reasons for it, but sometimes you know that you have preventing and sometimes unmatched fires, so it varies,” Type said on Taline Tuesday morning.

The last fire mortality was in West Logan in an apartment building on Monday morning.

Tyree says the building was fully involved when the crews arrived on stage.

“Fully involved, and upon arrival they already had a partial roof collapse, so there were many on stage. I had a lonely resident of one of the units that unfortunately lost his life there, ”he said.

The only information he released about the victim was that he was 52 years old.

Tyree encourages residents to help ensure that everyone is safe, even your older neighbors because five out of the 11 fire deaths the victims have been 70 years old and over and nine out of the 11 fire deaths that the victims have been 60 years or above.

“The reality of it is that we need to run smoke alarms, we need a plan, and we just have to help each other stay safe and shoot safely in the winter and all year,” he said.

Tyree said that with the fully involved building they encountered, the crews made the herds fight for the flames from the exterior instead of going in.

He also said that right now there is no known cause of the fire.

“Still investigating, still trying to conduct some interviews and still trying to look at some of the physical evidence that may be there,” Tyrree said. “At this point it is indefinite, but we will see if time goes by if we can make a clear decision about the origin and the cause of the fire.”

Tyree said that investigators have no suspected arson or that any other burning was involved.
