Wa snow leaves slush on roads, thousands without power

The night’s snowfall in western Washington has again made trips on local roads difficult due to icy conditions on Thursday morning.

Lowland Snow began to fall on Wednesday and continued into the night over hours as temperatures dropped, and rounds of showers continued to push into the Puget Sound area.

According to Fox 13 Seattle Weather Team, the area should dry out before the second half of the morning commuting with Sunshine On Tap for the second half of the day. Temperatures are heated again until mid -30s, which should help melt any snow or ice on the main roads at noon.

8:30 am: trees and power lines down

Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office said heavy snowfall and ice cream building have reduced power lines.

Fox 13 Seattle was on site for a wood and power lines down in Bothell.

State route 106 at Milepost 8 was blocked due to trees down.

07:51: Waste and recycling in Seattle

Seattle Public Utilities announced that there will be no housing waste, recycling or picking up food/farm of waste due to the weather.

Customers who are scheduled for pickup on Wednesday can bring their trash cans and may have twice as much as the amount next week.

07:45: ‘Biggest advice for the day – leave early!’

WSDOT advises drivers to leave early if they need to travel on highways in the area.

07:19: Be prepared for delays if you are driving

Earlier in the day, the Washington State Department of Transportation said the southbound off-ramp to the state route 520 in Seattle was blocked due to water across the road.

07:15: Sner routes in King County

King County Metro said its buses will remain on snow routes for Thursday.

7:00 am: Delays in Kitsap County

Officials with Kitsap County said the courthouse and all county offices are on a two-hour delay Thursday due to the weather.

Waste and recycling, including the Olympic view transfer station, will be at a two-hour delay.

06:55: Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Delays, cancellations

Flightaware.com Reported 37 flights out of the sea are delayed and there are 16 cancellations for Thursday.

06:45: Seattle City Light stops

Crews with Seattle City Light reported that almost 4,000 customers in the Lake Fore Park area are without power.

The reason is under investigation and the time of restoration is unknown.

06:30 am: Power cuts in Western WA

Puget Sound Energy reported that more than 21,000 customers were affected by one Power switch.

05:15: Another round of school closures and delays

Several districts have announced that their schools are in a late start and have updated their bus routes.
