BADGERS NEWS: Wisconsin leads the Big Ten in the Key-Point category

Wisconsin Badgers enjoyed a 76-64 beat off Indiana Hoosiers Tuesday marked their 21st victory against Indiana, which is the longest ever line for any team.

Wisconsin came out to a quick 19-2 start and never looked back as they never withdrew while led with double digits for almost 37 minutes. How did they get to such a quick start?

It was the same formula they have used all year round: Three-point shooting, only it came via the transition to start on Tuesday.

Wisconsin has been one of the top three-point shooting teams in the country this season as their 10.1 does per day. Combat Top-15 in the nation and fourth among Power-4 teams.

It continued against Indiana, where Badgers began to beat seven of their first eight three-Pointers, and eventually hit 12 triangles in the game in the victory.

Wisconsin’s 12 triangles marked their 13th match this season where they have connected double -digit triangles this year, which is the best brand in the Big Ten. It tops Illinois (12 games with 10+ triangles), Michigan (12 games) and Iowa (11 games) as the other leaders in the Big Ten.

Three-point shooting has been an area successfully for Badgers this season, and they have gone 8-1 this season when they hit at least 11 triangles in a game so far.

The reason why Wisconsin has seen such a success from three comes from the program’s construction as they have good volumes (John Tonje and Max Klesmit), as well as a number of other players capable of connecting from Deep. Six to seven players, including a number of guys from the bench, have regularly hit triangles on games-to-game base that extend the defense.

Wisconsin has been able to generate a high-level assists with their ball screen and pass-and-cut actions, which has led to a number of quality looks from deep as they drive and kick off for shots.

Three-point shooting will be an important point for weight for badgers in the future, and they are already leading the Big Ten in a key-point category so far this season.
