Sixers and Mavs change Caleb Martin Trade Valnem, Dallas to receive a 2nd-Round-NBC Sports Philadelphia

Sixers and Mavs changed the conditions of their trade on Thursday.

Sixers agrees to send their own 2030 second round election to Dallas, a source confirmed to NBC Sports Philadelphia. The original agreement had Sixers gathering their own second-rounds and Quentin Grimes in exchange for Martin.

This means that the full trade is now:

  • Sixers receive Quentin Grimes, their own choice of 2025 second round
  • Mavs receives Caleb Martin, Sixers’ 2030 Second Round Election

Marc Stein First reported the new terms and wrote that “Dallas has no long-term concern over the right hip displacement, which has side-lined Martin, but a change in the original trade was in demand for the physical of the ex-sector.”

A Sixers source told NBC Sports Philadelphia that Martin is not actually considered to have a long-term injury. The 29-year-old Spider had been listed as questionable that led into the Sixers’ victory on Tuesday night over Mavs, a game of both Grimes and Martin did not play.

Martin’s last action came on January 10th. He said on Monday he “went out well,” though he recognized that the rehabilitation process took “a little longer than expected.”

“I think the difference is, with my shoulder (injury), it was like, ok, I can still move,” Martin said. “I can get around the field with my lower half or whatever. … so I could handle it, as much as I could. But that’s my groin. When it is the lower half and you cannot move and are unable to push your feet, you become more a responsibility. Even if I wanted to go out there, knowing that I would have been a responsibility, it just wouldn’t happen. It couldn’t happen.

“It’s part of me growing as a player just by realizing when it’s time to give yourself another and try to get back on the field. I haven’t done a good job with it in my career; I’ve typically played through a lot of things. It’s just one of those things where I just couldn’t. I am glad that I have made rehabilitation and made progress every day. Hopefully I’ll be back soon. “

With the now completed trade, Grimes must be available to make his sixers debut When the team visits the stamps on Friday night.
