WM Phoenix Open: Golf Tournament draws golfans and non-golffans boats

The first round of the WM Phoenix Open took place in Scottsdale on Thursday, and while Golf Superfans and some of the best names in golf are there, there is another group of people looking for a good time.

Some participants look in fashion instead of golf

While some at WMPO look at golf action, there are those who grabbed a drink, got a bite, talked to friends and then lean back and watch the fashion show.

What they say:

“It’s half of the fun here to get around and see what other people have on what they’re doing, hopefully not fooling by themselves,” said a participant.

Those who are new to TPC Scottsdale could be in for an eye-full, from mini-glands to silly shirts and green overalls.

“We all work and we decided a couple of nights ago that we need overalls,” a participant said. “I mean it’s the colors of (WM). It’s green and white, that’s that thing.”

Fashion is also on the mind of some people who are interested in golf.

“I play golf, so I try to see that part and look good. If you don’t play well, look good!” said a participant.

Event that draws them from the state and abroad

The event is not only aware of those in the Phoenix area, but also those outside Arizona.

“It’s just a great tournament,” a London person said in the UK. “It’s funny, it’s different, so yes. Why not?”

“” I’m just up from Washington, “said another participant.” We just got down here, see our friends and we are going to Nickelback (Friday) Evening. “
