Storm 5 Alert is in effect in the afternoon from 1 p.m. 14 to 21

Nashville, Tenn. (WTVF) – The hot front that is lifted into Kentucky overnight is the reason why it is hot and slightly moist today.

That’s why we call a Storm 5 alarm for our area in Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky. Storm Prediction Center has placed Middle Tennessee in a level two for a serious storm risk with other rural areas at a level 1.

The best window for storms in our area will be from 1 p.m. 14 to 21, but it will be determined by the speed of the cold front.

The front triggered a series of serious thunderstorms and tornado warnings just north of our DMA last night.

This afternoon this front is now coming through again as a cold front. Currently it is between Clarksville and Hopkinsville. When it bumps into the hot and humid air, scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop. Some of these storms could be strong too serious. The biggest threats are harmful wind throw and small hail, but isolated tornadoes cannot be excluded.
