Former Louisville QB Lamar Jackson finishes number two in 2024 NFL MVP voting

Louisville, Ky. – Despite having an MVP caliber season, Lamar Jackson doesn’t come home with hardware.

The winner of the 2024 Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player Award was announced on Thursday at the annual NFL Honor’s Ceremony, and former Louisville Football Star and current Baltimore Ravens Quarterback ended as runner-up in the vote.

Instead, Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen was named the winner. Jackson received 23 of the 50 first place votes and finished with 362 points, while Allen received the other 27 first places and had 383 points.

Allen is the first player to win the NFL MVP without being named first-team all-pro, since Steve McNair was named CO-MVP in the 2003 season with Peyton Manning and only the third overall. John Elway in 1987 was the first to achieve this.

Despite already being a two-time MVP who won it in both 2019 and 2023, Jackson comes out of his best season at the professional level. From all 17 of Ravens’ regular seasonal matches, 6-foot-2, 205-pound signal caller ended 66.7 percent of his passport in 4,172 yards and 41 Touchdowns-all are career-heights-male he also rushes in 915 yard and four touchdowns.

Not only did Jackson NFL led in passing rating at 119.6 and yards per year. Appropriate attempt at 8.8, he also led the league in yards per year. Controlling attempts of 6.6. Earlier this year, he broke Michael Vick’s record for career rushing yards with a quarterback of 6,110.

Jackson helped guide Baltimore to a 12-5 regular seasonal record as well as an AFC North Championship. The third-seeded Ravens took down Pittsburgh Steelers 28-14 during the Wild Card weekend to kick their playoffs, but fell 27-25 at Buffalo Bills in the divisional round.

Since he was prepared by Baltimore with the last choice of the first round of 2018 NFL Draft, Jackson has been one of the most electric players in the NFL. He has led Ravens to a record of 70-24 as a starter, including winning the NFL MVP in 2019 and 2023. In 103 total games he has collected 26,232 meters of violation and 199 touchdowns.

Jackson is arguably the top player in Louisville football history. He set several records during his three -year period with the Cardinals and completed his college career with 9,043 Yard’s Passage, 4,132 Yard’s rushing and 119 gathered touchdowns. He became the school’s first winner of Heisman Trophy ever after gathering 5,114 totaling yards and 51 gathered touchdowns in 2016.
