Where will that snow this weekend? Tracks Totals for Midwest, Northeast

A massive storm that pierced California is heading east and producing a wintry mix over the weekend from the northern plains through the northeast, the forecasts warn.

This comes after a storm that brought a wall of snow, ice and rain swept through parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York on Thursday, leaving the New England coast.

A new storm that brought record rain to northern California on Thursday is heading east and brings between 6 and 12 inches of snow between the northern rockies, National Weather Service reported. At least 4 to 6 inches of snowfall reach the northern plains and upper Mississippi from Friday to Saturday.

The storm will strengthen over the Midwest and Ohio Valley during Saturday thanks to a “Jetstrøm” according to Accuweather -Meteorologist Isaac Longley. This will raise winter precipitation over the top middle west, especially areas such as Minneapolis and Central Wisconsin, where 3 to 6 inches of snow are expected. Areas like Northern Michigan can expect 6 to 12 inches of snow.

“This is really a cross -country skiing storm that we are dealing with here,” Longley told USA Today. “It seems that this initial band of snow that sets up over the northern plains and upper midwest will be relatively narrow. So some placements (will) definitely pick up a good amount of snow but there may be sharp variations of Snowfall.

Beat, freezing rain to hit Ohio, Pennsylvania

At Saturday night, the storm brings icy conditions like gossip and freezes rain to northern Ohio and northern-central Pennsylvania, according to Longley.

Slows of heavy snow will strike over western New York, far northern Pennsylvania and the Catskill mountains, Longley said. At least 6 to 12 inches of snow are expected across Massachusetts, southern Vermont and southern New Hampshire.

“I think some of these locations could see larger quantities of more than 12 inches,” he added.

The storm is intended to leave the “relatively fast” region on Sunday, although Longley said a light snow can hang in New England, especially around Boston, Coastal New Hampshire and Portland, Maine.
