First alarm weather: colder and windy to finish the work week

Rochester, new – the snow and ice from Thursday are gone, and so is our yellow alarm. Wind is next up, with a wind guidance laid out for the whole area for Friday morning. Wind will sometimes go out at 35-45 km / h before facilitating a little in the afternoon. This is probably not strong enough to produce more than a few insulated power cuts from weakened limbs and branches, but it will be a noticeable wind. A cold front passing tonight brings a burst of snow, followed by falling temperatures.

Friday will be blasing and cool with some lake flakes, mainly limited to the 104 corridor, especially in Wayne County. This is where a few centimeters of fresh lint can be accumulated. Outside of that, you can expect some snow to end the week. It will be a quiet start to the weekend with a little bit of sunshine on Saturday morning. We track our next storm, which is expected to bring another batch of accumulating snow on Saturday night ending on Sunday morning. That said, some lake effect will take over. At this early time we look at a 2-4 ″ accumulation on Saturday night, with another few centimeters of fresh lake fluff on Sunday. A yellow alarm may be needed for Sunday morning, depending on the exact timing of the system. Either way, if you have plans on Sunday morning, you can leave some extra time to clear any snow.
