Homeowner speaks after Tornado in Rockcastle County

Livingston, Ky. (Lex 18) – National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado was touching down Thursday morning in Rockcastle County.

Officials tell us that there was damage to four to five homes along Red Hill Road including home to Virginia Pheanis.

“I was in shock. My husband came and screamed and asked me to get up and I didn’t answer him,” Pheanis said.

From there?

“Directly, I felt the dirt hit me in the face and I woke up and I was like oh my goddess darling, what’s going on?” Pheanis added.

Waste from Virginia’s home partially blocked roads for several hours. No injuries were reported.

“Thank goodness, we’re all still alive, all, our house is still lively,” said Pheanis.

Late Thursday morning, Power was restored in Virginia’s House after going out for several hours, but Virginia and her husband were left to pick up the pieces.

“He said the stable is gone, the big oak tree up here is gone. He said half of the roof is away from our house, ”noted Pheanis.

In general, there is extensive damage to the outside of Virginia’s House.

“I think we’ll tear it down. Just try to re -group, rebuild,” Pheanis said.

Pheanis’ family is trying to move on in a place where they have lived for 37 years.
