‘Back to Plastic!’ Trump signs executive order to end ‘ridiculous’ push for paper straw

President Donald Trump Announced Friday he is planning to stop the use of paper straw in the US

“I will sign a executive order next week that ends the ridiculous bit —skub for paper straw that is not working,” Trump wrote on Truth Socialwhich is his social media platform.

“Back to plastic!” he added.

Trump previously expressed his reluctance to paper. During his re-election campaign in 2019, his team sold Trump-branded plastic straw, which was recyclable.

“Do straw well again!” He said at the time. “Liberal paper straw is not working. Standing with President Trump and getting your package with recyclable Trump -straw today. Only $ 15 for a package of 10.”

The straws were reportedly sold out shortly after Trump posted about his straw on Facebook.

Former President Joe Biden, together with Vice President Kamala Harris, hoped by 2024 to phase off disposable plastic, including straw and other plastic tools, with claims that they pollute the environment and the world seas.

The goal was to phase out drinking straw in 2035 in US government departments, where several companies switched to paper straw. Other companies only chose to give customers straw upon request.

As for Trump’s environmental efforts, he withdrew from the Paris Climate Change Agreement shortly after the inauguration day – and has continuously promised to “drill, baby, drill” to oil.
