Laverne Cox‘S new show can be called “Clean Slate,” but she has grown tired of the dirty laws and rhetoric speared by President Donald Trump and Republicans against the trans community. And now she’s talking about it.

To context and As previously reported by The rootIn the three short weeks he has been in the office, Trump has signed a myriad of executive orders aimed at further freeing transporters and those within the LGBTQ+ community. One of them made it clear that the government would only recognize “two unchanging sexes: female and male.” He also recalled former President Joe Bid’s executive order, supporting transgender people who openly served in the military. In addition, Trump also ordered the transfer of trans women to male prisons and called for a stop on gender -affirming treatment for imprisoned individuals.

With all this going on, COX did not choke words or spar her thoughts when she was talking to The Hollywood reporter about it recently.

“Transgender people are less than 1 percent (of the population) and I think the Republican Party is concerned about the wrong 1 percent,” Cox said. “Obviously, transgender people are being scapegoated and targeted at all levels – and not surprising if you read Project 2025.”

She continued:

Even when they remove our access to gender -affirming care, transgender people have always found a way to get our gender affirming care. Similar to abortion, it has not always been in the healthiest way and we will be able to get our blood to work and get our doctors to check us out.

But nothing the government will do will keep us from our gender affirming care. That’s the truth. It never has, never. We are resilient people. We are resourceful people.

She also gave encouraging words to them in the trans community and encouraged them to remember the obstacles of the past, and how pioneers were able to power through and influence changes despite.

“Trans people, I want to remind us that we’ve been here before. Our identity has been criminalized before … There are people before her who survived and got through it, and we get through it again, ”she said.
