Reporter with Topeka -Band Adan Manzano dies in Nola before Super Bowl


Telemundo Kansas City Reporters’ wife, Ashleigh Leeann Boyd Manzano, died in a car accident last year in Topka, Kansas.

A sports reporter died Wednesday while he was in New Orleans to cover the Super Bowl 59, according to Kansas City TV station he was working for.

Telemundo Kansas City (KGKC) said on Thursday that 27-year-old Adan Manzano, who worked as an anchor and reporter, died while on the task of covering the Super Bowl for both the Spanish language network and Tico Sports.

Manzano’s wife, Ashleigh Leeann Boyd Manzano, died in a car accident last year. She was the second class teacher at Lowman Hill Elementary School.

“We are sorry to share that Adan Manzano died yesterday in New Orleans,” KGKC said in a news message. “We cooperate with law enforcement when they investigate this tragic event.”

KGKC described Manzano as a “real professional and rising star that exemplified expertise in his work.” This was Manzano’s third equal season that covered the Super Bowl for the TV station.

“We will deeply miss Adan and his passion for sports and the contributions he made to the local community,” the TV station said. “Our thoughts and heartfelt compassion go out to his family and loved ones in this difficult time.”

New Orleans police told USA Today that it has no further information to provide about the incident.

Topka USD 501 Superintendent Tiffany Anderson called Boyd a “bright light” whose “second class students loved”, according to an email to parents obtained by Topka Capital journal, part of the US Today Network.
