According to Reports in Canadian Media, while the Trude Administration hosts the Canada-Usa’s financial summit in Toronto on Friday, Trudeau said: “I suggest not only the Trump administration knows how many critical minerals we have, but it can even be the reason why they continue to talk about absorbing us and making us the 51st state. They are very aware of our resources, what we have and they want a lot to be able to take advantage of them. “

“But Mr. Trump has it in mind that one of the easiest ways to do it is to absorb our country. And that’s a real thing, ”he added.

This meeting was held as Ottawa is preparing for March 4th date, with Trump expected to decide whether to charge a 25% duty on the imports of Canada.

Maps like his November election had accused Canada of being responsible for a stream of illegal immigrants and the deadly drug -tanl into the United States.

While Trump announced that the tariffs would be imposed on February 4, the deadline was moved 30 days after the Trudeau government made several concessions, including the appointment of a fentanyl -czar.

This postponement came after Trudeau spoke with Trump twice on the threshold of the proposed tariffs that came into force.

On Monday, Trudeau published on X, “Canada’s new obligations include the appointment of a ‘fentanyl-czar’ showing cartels as terrorists, ensuring” 24/7 eyes on the border “and launching a Canada-American joint strike force to combat organized crime, Fentanyl and money laundering.

Trump has repeatedly described Canada as the US “51st State” and referred to Trudeau as governor. On January 7, Trudeau replied, “There’s not a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States.”

This answer came a day after Trudeau declared his intention to resign as prime minister when the leader of the ruling Liberal Party was elected. This process is scheduled to be completed on March 9. Even as this leadership continues, however, Parliament remains Prorogued, an act that has been criticized by opposition parties for ignoring the lower house in the middle of a national crisis. This prorogation was also contested by civilian freedom groups, and a federal court holds accelerated hearings on the controversial decision.
