Minnesota Weather: Timeline for what to expect with Saturday’s snow

A winter storm will affect Minnesota over the weekend, which probably brings several centimeters of snow over large parts of the state.

Winter Storm warnings, watches and advisers have been issued over the Rocky Mountain region through Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

In Minnesota, Winter Storm Watch, issued over the central and southern parts of the state, is transferred to a winter weather advice, which is in effect from midnight to 18.00 on Saturday.

Timeline for snow

Timeline:

The snow is expected to enter central Minnesota on Friday night and push the east and reach the subway on each side of midnight. Here is a timeline for what to expect.

  • Friday night: Fluffy snow starts to fall into the subway after midnight, with periods of heavy snowfall. Snow collection of 2-3 inches is likely.
  • Saturday morning: Snow continues through the morning, before mading in light flourries. Another 1-3 inch of snow is possible.
  • Saturday noon: Snow smashes late in the morning or early afternoon to a mostly cloudy day.

This system could bring 3-6 inches of snow to central Minnesota, including the Twin Cities Metro. Areas in southern and northern Minnesota could get 1-3 inches of accumulation. The heavier snowfall is expected in western Wisconsin with a potential of 4-7+ inches of snow.

The city of Crystal has declared snow parking restrictions that are effective on February 8 at. 9am

After a snowfall of at least 1.5 inches in the city, parking is banned on all public streets and alleys until the snow has stopped accumulating and the street or street has been plowed. Vehicles parked on streets or alleys during snow situations can be felt and/or dragged at the owner’s expense.
