Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is set to begin this weekend and marks the 149th edition of one of the longest continuously held sporting events in the country.

Thousands of dogs will compete for the best in show title at the annual event. Sage was the top dog last year and became the first miniature poodle to claim the title Best in Show since 2002.

After spending the last two years at Usta Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, however, Westminster will show the show into the heart of New York City. Events are held in Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Madison Square Garden.

Westminster Dog Show -Winners

The best in the Show Award is the top honor available on Westminster Dog Show. The Terrier group has been the most dominant to pace the course with 47 wins. (The group has not held the crown since King Arthur van Foliny Home, a wire fox terrier, won in 2019.)
